Corvids are a family of passerine birds comprising 25 genera and 130 species of crows, rooks, magpies, titmice and jays.
When you walk in the forest, you regularly hear cries of all kinds, often heartbreaking and mocking, but also melodious: they are due to the frantic chatter of the jay, but also to its talent for imitating other birds in the forest.
The jay is a large and beautiful bird, very colorful, easy to recognize with feathers of different colors, very distinct, a pinkish-brown surface plumage and especially blue wing coverts streaked with black and white. ; it has a black moustache and a white throat. The wings and tail are black, with blue and white spots, clearly visible in flight. The feathers are found during walks in the forest, it is one of the most intelligent beings in the animal world.
The jay is a useful bird to the forester; it is capable of burying a large number of forest fruits (acorns, berries) in caches each year in order to build up food reserves in winter. It thus contributes to the dissemination of oaks because many acorns are not eaten and germinate.
